AI Chat Log

“How did I solve that?” — just search.

Save your conversations with Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, ChatGPT and other AI tools on your own computer, and find them later by keyword or date.

Personal use · open source

# Launch /Applications/SyncLane.app
# Claude Code (CLI) and Codex (app and CLI) chats are imported automatically

# Browser chats can be imported too (with a Chrome extension)
# 1. Download and unzip the extension (this makes ~/Downloads/SyncLane-extension)
https://mrktools.app/downloads/synclane/SyncLane-extension.zip
# 2. Type this in Chrome's URL bar
chrome://extensions
# 3. Turn on "Developer mode", then select this folder
~/Downloads/SyncLane-extension

Features

Register it with Claude Code (CLI), then ask

Once registered, just ask “how did we decide that?” and the AI searches your saved conversations. Read-only.

# Register SyncLane with Claude Code (CLI) (works from any folder)
$ claude mcp add --scope user synclane -- /Applications/SyncLane.app/Contents/MacOS/synclane-app --mcp

# Then just ask Claude Code (CLI)
> How did we solve this problem before?

The Claude app (GUI) works too

Add a few lines to its config file and restart. Adding “ask SyncLane” makes it reliable. Conversations in the app itself are not saved by SyncLane.

# Add this to claude_desktop_config.json and restart the Claude app (GUI)
# (you can also copy it from the MCP tab in Settings)
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "synclane": {
      "command": "/Applications/SyncLane.app/Contents/MacOS/synclane-app",
      "args": ["--mcp"]
    }
  }
}

Good ways to ask

“What did I do this month?” works for monthly reports and reviews. Hours are unreliable, so ask for percentages. Put your shorthand in CLAUDE.md to have it checked before the web.

# More ways to ask. Handy for monthly reports
> What did I do this month? Ask SyncLane.
> If hours are unreliable, give percentages. Use SyncLane

## SyncLane (search past conversations)
- "SL" means SyncLane (the synclane MCP).
- When asked about past decisions or my project names,
  search synclane before searching the web.

Gemini and ChatGPT (web): a Chrome extension

Open a conversation and, once the answer is finished, it is sent to SyncLane on this Mac automatically. Conversations opened in Chrome only. Do not delete the unzipped folder.

# 1. Download and unzip the extension
#    (this makes a SyncLane-extension folder in ~/Downloads)
https://mrktools.app/downloads/synclane/SyncLane-extension.zip

# 2. Open chrome://extensions in Chrome
# Turn on "Developer mode" (top right)

# 3. Click "Load unpacked" and choose this folder
~/Downloads/SyncLane-extension

# 4. Keep the SyncLane app running and open a conversation in Gemini or ChatGPT

Import by command (CLI) too

Not included in the download (dmg). Install Rust and build it from source. Gemini CLI logs are imported only through this command.

# Not included in the download (dmg). Requires Rust (https://rustup.rs)
# Once Rust is installed, build it from source
$ git clone https://github.com/MR-TABATA/SyncLane.git ~/SyncLane
$ cd ~/SyncLane

# Import conversations (--all for everything, --date 2026-10-13 for that day)
$ cargo run --release -- import claude --all
$ cargo run --release -- import codex --all
$ cargo run --release -- import gemini --all # Gemini CLI

# Show them by date
$ cargo run --release -- timeline --date 2026-10-13 --limit 20

Claude Code and Codex: collected by the app

While it runs, it imports new conversations every 30 seconds. Work run in the Codex app on “This computer” is read from the logs on your Mac, so it comes in too. No duplicates.

Your record stays, even if history disappears

Conversations are saved in a SQLite file on your machine. Even if a tool stops showing its history, your record stays.

Give each topic its own title

A long conversation keeps one title even when the topic changes, which makes it hard to find things. SyncLane splits a conversation where there is a gap of 30 minutes or more, and where it was summarised and continued. Use the ✎ next to a title to name each section. Nothing leaves your Mac, and a title you edit is not overwritten by later imports.

Send to a company server too (optional)

By default nothing is sent. Only if you connect to a server (for example one your company runs) are the conversations you choose sent there. Before sending, anything that looks like a secret — API keys, tokens, passwords — is masked. What to always mask and what to let through are set in Settings → “Masking secrets”. Your local record and search are unchanged. The server is provided separately and is not part of SyncLane.

What it supports

What works today and what is planned are listed separately.

What you can do

  • Search past conversations by keywords (space = AND) and by date (with a full-text index; Japanese works as a substring match)
  • Search around a day, such as “five days either side”
  • A day-by-day timeline (your input and the AI's reply, in two columns)
  • Trace back “why did I do that?” (rejected ideas and the deciding reason stay in the conversation)
  • Split a conversation by topic and give each section a title
  • Search from your AI (Claude Code, Claude app) via MCP, read-only
  • Optionally send to a company server (anything that looks like a secret is masked)
  • Runs on macOS

What it imports

  • [App, automatic] Claude Code (CLI) logs
  • [App, automatic] Codex (app and CLI) logs
  • [Chrome extension] Gemini and ChatGPT (web) conversations
  • [Command] Gemini CLI logs (build from source)

What is saved

  • Your input and the AI's text replies
  • Tool output and the AI's reasoning are not saved
  • Stored in a local SQLite file (append-only)

Planned

  • A VSCode plugin
  • Publishing the Chrome extension on the Chrome Web Store
  • Importing Claude (web) conversations
  • We'll let you know when they're ready
